THE SCI AREA

The SCI (Site of Community Importance) is a geographically defined area which contributes significantly to the preservation or restoration of natural habitats and species of plants and animals, or to the maintenance of biological diversity within the biogeographic region to which it belongs.

The SCI "Litorale Brindisino - Brindisi Coast" is characterized in particular by the presence of coastal wetlands where rare or endangered species of migratory birds stay or reproduce.
